Corporate Background
TonerCharge was formed by president and CEO,
W.C. Turner, P.E. in 1989 and incorporated in 1996. As a mechanical
engineer for two major corporations in the nuclear industry,
Turner had been using computer laser printers since the mid
1980’s and was constantly impressed with their quality of print
and reliability.
Laser
printers set a new standard for print quality and the machine’s
reliability could be attributed to its consumable imaging cartridge.
The Canon Corporation had developed a disposable, all-in-one
toner cartridge for their laser printers that virtually eliminated
the need for frequent service, as seen in the copier industry.
The laser printing process-conditioning, writing, transfer and
cleaning were all accomplished with the imaging cartridge at
its center.
The engineering behind the new laser printing system was impressive,
but there were two major drawbacks:
- The price was high.
- Reusable parts were discarded and not recycled.
It was easy to spot a market. Turner’s response was, “You’d
think somebody could rebuild these things.” And sure enough,
they could be rebuilt.
Starting with only two types of cartridges developed by the
Canon Corporation at the time, Turner founded TonerCharge
and began refurbishing operations in his home garage. His first
employee was hired a few months later and plans were underway
to build-out and finish a section of his backyard shop to house
TonerCharge.
It quickly became apparent that superior quality through technical
ability and service attitude would give TonerCharge
an edge over the competition. Today, TonerCharge
is a full service remanufacturer capable of recycling a myriad
of cartridges produced by companies such as Canon, Xerox, Panasonic,
Okidata, NEC, Minolta and many others.
Our
operation has grown considerably since 1989. In 1989 TonerCharge
occupied approximately 300 square feet of production area and
warehouse. In 1996 the Corporation expanded to over 7600 square
feet to what is becoming a state-of-the-art production facility.
In addition to recycled imaging products, TonerCharge
sells brand new and compatible imaging supplies. We also sell
new and refurbished laser printers.
In 1999 TonerCharge became an HP authorized reseller
and an HP authorized service provider. We service most any brand
of laser printer and are authorized to perform warranty work
for every monochrome laser printer manufactured by HP.
